Hello from Italy!

~ me in St. Peter's Square, Vatican City ~

Ciao, y'all!

After a sweet and intimate wedding in San Diego, planned by Red Letter Days, and a wonderful start to married life, my husband and I have had a whirlwind 16 months as we moved first to California's central coast, then to Virginia, and finally . . . Naples, Italy!

I've only been here a couple of months and have already had some adventures. (You can keep up with me on my personal blog.)

I'm thrilled to be contributing to the Red Letter Days blog from halfway around the world -- and we've got some great things coming up! We're all going to be contributing posts and sharing what we're excited about that makes a Red Letter Day so very special.

Come along with us, and let us know what you think in the comments. We love to hear from you!

un abbraccio,

Festival of Brides in Black and White

On January 10, 2010, Red Letter Days Events participated in the Festival of Brides, The Upscale Bridal Show, at The Grand Del Mar. What a show!

We collaborated with LaVonne Crawford and her amazing team at Adorations Botanical Artistry to create a rustic yet edgy black and white sand ceremony altar that paid tribute to a new year, a new decade! The warmth of candlelight and yummy comfort of Chocolate Cherry Mama cookies (prepared specially by Lori Krause) greeted everyone we enjoyed spending the day chatting with.

Many thanks to Cary Pennington for capturing our unique take on the beloved ceremony altar and the way to rock a bridal show.

It is always more fun to display your promotional video atop a cake stand.

LaVonne's luscious bouquet was simply adorned with one of my mother's brooches.

Warm, happy, peaceful.

We're honored to be a part of this stunning publication. Check out our ad featuring Maureen and Gino on pages 68 - 69 (their wedding is featured on pages 344 - 349). Cary Pennington rocked this one - passion abound! And many thanks to Karrie Pyke, Posh Paperie diva, for her terrific ad design talent.

A Red Letter Day for Mia!

Congratulations to Mia! Today was her first day of culinary school at The Art Institute of California ~ San Diego.

Erin Fitzgerald to Cameron Scholes

The wedding of Erin Fitzgerald and Cameron Scholes was a creative and classy reflection of the couple, and an homage to their love of all things ocean. Cary Pennington Photography crafted a beautiful pictorial journal of a day remembered fondly. We're thrilled that Ceremony San Diego Wedding & Events 2009 Magazine featured the day on pages 322-324 - you can view it online here!

Erin's bouquet was a stunning floral melange with interesting texture - one of the most beautiful we've seen!

The ceremony site was the perfect complement to the overwhelmingly beautiful views from Kate O. Sessions Memorial Park.

Erin and Cameron masterfully brought the surf and sand to their reception...

...and their passion for Ohio State. :)

Reflections 1.2010

It's 2010! Let me repeat...IT'S 2010!!!!!

VERY exciting!

Prosperity and possibility are oozing from this year already. Mia and I thank years 2004-2009 (actually, we thank years beginning in the 1970s) for paving the way for this joy. We've created, we've collaborated, we've celebrated...thank you to all who have journeyed with us!

During Red Letter Days Events' inaugural year, we partnered with a group of ultra-talented musicians from the local and national stage to produce a benefit concert for The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation at La Paloma Theatre in Encinitas, California. Donated instruments from concert attendees and proceeds from ticket sales were gifted to the Foundation. It was a transforming experience for everyone involved, and one that Mia and I are continually grateful for - the education we received and the sense of accomplishment we felt from completing that show launched RLD to a whole new level. Photographer Genevieve Burruss captured moving images from that evening...ones too beautiful not to share:

As we continue to soar...launch...soar...we take with us memories, lessons, and experiences that we intend will translate into creativity, collaboration, and celebration for you, our precious friends.

Happy New Year.
